Graduate

Memories fallen into a leathery book thick, sturdy, but fleeting.

We put the book in the basement and we promise not to forget.

Time understands meaning more than we do.

Time understands that we won’t forget, but the memories will fade and crumble.

We are too stubborn to admit but- Fading, he graduates. Fading, he moves on. Fading, time falls down and shatters the shell of the past.

But against time, against fate, I keep his memories bound, not in a book but in my mind.

I love you, brother.
